Folks:

I wanted to thank Neil Cherry for his intriguing presentation about Home
Automation and Linux, the audience seemed to really enjoy it and the content
was right on par with the groups interest - so kudos to Neil!

As we mentioned at this months meeting, March's presentation is still up in
the air, but the officers got together and we're thinking it would be a good
time to review package management and the various utilities and management
tools out in the wild today.

So - we're looking for (2) presenters to speak on package management in
todays modern Linux environments, which means we need someone who can
authoritatively present and review RPM package management as well as someone
to speak about Debian package management. We'll also entertain other
package management methods, such as Slackware or just using regular
tarballs, but we want to cover the most common bases primarily RPM and
Debian package management foremost.

Each presentation should probably last about 25 minutes so we can take a
short break in between and then move on to the other presentation. This
should allow for adequate topic coverage without being overkill.

So please - step up and contact the officers if you're interested. Please
email us at officers at lugip.org and give us a short outline of the topic and
how you feel it will be presented and we'll select (2) presenters from the
lot and schedule you in for March.

Also keep in mind that we're always looking for people to speak at the
meetings on *any* topic related to Linux and Open Source Software or a
reasonable related topic. For the future I know we're interested in hearing
presentations about Asterisk and telephony, networking and routing, or *any*
demo of a modern Linux OS.

Again - please contact the officers if you're interested in presenting.,
See you in March!!
