I was asked a few months ago about connecting MIDI to a computer. It took me
some time, but i found some rather inexpensive solutions that are offered
from zzounds.com

Part number - 2571N    $39.95
Part number - 25XBJ    $29.95

they are both listed as working for Mac and Windows, but I would also assume
that it works in Linux as well.
