[lugip] Question about hardware

If there is a piece of hardware that is labeled as "Certified for 
Windows Vista", does that mean that the hardware conforms to Vista's 
hardware control policies, making that piece of hardware useless in 
anything but Vista or does that mean that only the drivers are Vista 
compliant?

I'm looking at a new video card, but if it cant run in Linux, I guess 
I'll just buy something else.
